I spent two decades circling faith without settling into it – asking questions, doubting, and drifting, but always ending up on rocky ground. In 2021, that changed. Things that had been sticking points for years finally came into clarity, and I came to unwavering faith in Jesus Christ as King of the Universe, and my Lord and Savior.
Gratefully, my faith has only deepened in the years since.
Also, I got sober in 1990. More than three decades later, that experience continues to shape the way I think about change, perseverance, grace, and the possibility of a life – and a human – becoming different.
I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in literature, along with formal study in biblical foundations. Those interests and experiences – faith, human nature, stories, meaning, change, and the questions beneath the surface of ordinary life – inevitably find their way into what I write here.
I write from a Protestant Evangelical perspective – not to defend a label, but simply because it’s where I’ve landed after a long time wrestling with hard questions.
